AHP Wins Civic Society Award for Residential Scheme!

Updated: 5 days ago

We are pleased to announce that our design for Silverdale Mews has won a Civic Society award for the New Housing Development at 123 Silverdale Road.

The Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society has been presenting these awards for over 40 years, which are chosen by a panel of architects, planners and lay people. This year, 8 properties were chosen from a shortlist of well over 20. Director, Adrian Clark and Consultant, Phil Hiscocks accepted the award on behalf of AHP.

AHP were involved with this project from a very early stage and worked with the original developer to prepare feasibility studies and negotiate the scheme through the planning process. Planning approval was granted in October 2019.

The site was then sold to Magnum Opus Developments and amended to accommodate a further two units to increase the total to 15 units. The project was completed in May 2024.

Phil Hiscocks, of Magnum Opus Developments said

“We are of course delighted with the finished product.  We pride ourselves in developing sites to a high standard – certainly to a higher standard than perhaps some larger developers might aspire to.  To be acknowledged by Tunbridge Wells Civic Society came as a complete surprise and of course we are very proud of what we have achieved and makes those efforts to achieve high standards worth every effort.

The site is a good size but has a narrow street frontage making construction challenging but we had a great site team, and the project ran smoothly throughout.

Adrian’s involvement has been instrumental.  We had produced some scheme layouts but were having great difficulty making this highly constrained site stand out from the crowd!  Adrian cracked it and we stuck with his initial design sketches and the finished product varies little from his suggested design.  To be recognised by a panel of judges which we understand includes architects and other property related experts as well as lay people is a great honour.

The project completed in May 2024 which brought to a close a project that I had been involved in for over 12 years!”
