For the third year, AHP have attended an event hosted by the Birmingham Architectural Association . The event, ‘Celebrating Women in Architecture’ was held in Birmingham symphony hall and had around 100 attendees.
The event celebrates International Women’s Day, aiming to highlight the obstacles that women encounter in the architectural profession. It seeks to dismantle industry stereotypes and promote inclusivity. This event facilitates women coming together to present their projects to local practices in and around Birmingham. Moreover, it educates younger students about the architectural projects commonly undertaken post-graduation. Insights from successful women in senior positions, sharing their career journeys and challenges, offer valuable advice to students and aspiring professionals.

Associate Director, Anna Bebbington, Architectural Technician, Irina Sharp and Architectural Technician, Lily Smith represented AHP at the event. Anna showcased her project board dedicated to a scheme at Mount Vernon Hospital in Watford. The John Bush Suite is a dedicated clinical space for chemotherapy treatment within Mount Vernon Hospital.

“We showcased our recent project at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, where we have refurbished the John Bush Suite, a dedicated clinical space for chemotherapy treatment. Many inspirational ladies spoke about their careers and journey in architecture and hopefully we have inspired the next generation in this amazing career field.”
A huge thank you to BAA for hosting such a fantastic event. We certainly hope to be back next year!
