Culture and Christmas - The AHP trip to Rome

We were thrilled that this year's AHP Christmas event took place in Rome, with 21 of the team descending on one of Italy's most beautiful cities.  Not only do these trips give us an excellent opportunity to regroup as a team but also to visit some truly inspirational architecture.

Think The Vatican, The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, The Colosseum and Forum and even a starling murmuration over the Altare della Patria!

Following on from the fountain, we made our way to The Pantheon which is not only an awe-inspiring building, but also provided a perfect shelter from the sudden downpour of rain! (providing you didn't stand beneath the eye of the Pantheon, a giant hole in the middle of the domed roof!)

Our evening meal was hosted by Otello restaurant in the Trastevere district.  Despite such a large party, they managed to squeeze us in, in the basement!

The food was lovely and after finishing off the tiramisu some of the team retired for the evening, whilst others found a secluded jazz club to continue the festivities!

Saturday

Following a hearty breakfast, the team split into smaller groups and continued the sightseeing, which included the Colosseum and Forum.  Having bought umbrellas the day before, we now found ourselves buying sunglasses, with temperatures reaching as high as 17°C!

After lunch it was time to board the coach back to the airport for our early evening flight home (with just enough time for a gelato on the way!)

We are already looking forward to next year!
