Project Completion - Supported Living Development, Reigate

Updated: Dec 1, 2023

AHP has recently completed a project with longstanding client, Active Prospects, who asked us to look at a site they had acquired in Reigate.

Outside of the accomodation

The existing site, which was located within the metropolitan green belt, housed a pair of semi-detached houses which were previously used as nurse’s accommodation. The proposals comprised a single storey development based around a central courtyard as the focus of the scheme. Around this courtyard were located 6 one-bedroom flats with two independence training rooms and associated staff facilities towards the front of the site.

The layout of the proposals allowed all the flats and communal areas of the scheme to be wheelchair accessible providing a completely step free development. All the flats are accessible and safe for people with high needs, including design features such as assistive technology, soft hooks and breakaway bars in wardrobes or kitchen fittings.

AHP were appointed from the very start of the design process through to completion of the development. This involved close collaboration with the planning consultant to put together a robust argument for the development within the green belt and regular meetings and discussion with the client to provide them with the best solution for their needs.

Great Meadows offers large communal spaces for people to develop independent skills or use for social time, also having the benefit of the allotment next door offers further opportunities to enjoy exercise in green space.
