Good Hope Hospital

Value:

£1.5m

Sutton Coldfield

Client:

Good Hope Hospital has officially opened a new Cardiology Day Case Unit (CDCU) following a £1.2m investment.

This unit consists of two bays, each equipped with six trolley spaces effectively doubling the previous capacity. The separate bays will cater to both men and women, and the unit includes essential facilities such as two patient toilets, a clean and dirty utility, a storeroom and a staff room.

Notably, six of the trolleys are equipped with cardiac monitoring capabilities, enabling staff to provide specialised care to patients requiring it prior to their procedures. This new unit will significantly expedite the treatment process for inpatients, as referrals can now be accepted directly from the emergency department without the need to wait for a bed on the cardiology ward.

Additionally, patients who can be treated and discharged promptly, or those who require urgent treatment but do not have access to a bed, can be safely cared for in the CDCU before and after their procedures. Consequently, the unit will be able to accommodate both inpatients and elective patients who are coming home.
