In 2016, new proposals for local development on the Stangrove Estate were introduced. The brief was to mitigate the car parking issues on the site and improve the estate's green areas, along with the construction of new houses, flats and retail unit.
To advance this initiative, Sevenoaks District Council engaged with residents to discuss future developments.
The proposals encompassed:
• Five semi-detached or terraced houses on Cedar Drive
• Six terraced houses on Park View Close
• Two flats situated above a reconstructed and expanded Corner Shop
Following pre-application guidance from the planning department, the design was refined and showcased at a public engagement event. Subsequently, the final designs were prepared and submitted for planning approval.
The final proposal involved the demolition of the existing single-storey corner shop to make way for a larger retail unit, which includes flats on the first floor. This additional residential space, along with the proposed dwellings throughout the estate, was deemed essential by the District Council to fund landscaping enhancements and increased parking facilities within the estate.
The scheme received planning approval in early 2022, with construction concluding in April 2024.
